Ex-Husker Not Ready To Count Out Cornhuskers
Lincoln–He was an All-American linebacker at NU in the early 90's. Now he's a college football anaylyst for ESPN. Needless to say Trev Alberts knows his Husker football. In a recent stop to Lincoln, Alberts says he is not one of the members of the media who believes the Big Red is in for big trouble in 2002.
Alberts says fans need to realize that one of the main reasons the Huskers are ranked anywhere from 9th to 17th in the pre-season polls is because the team lost Heisman winning quarterback Eric Crouch. Alberts added that the majority of the higher-ranked teams have a returning signal caller.
As for the NU defense, Trev says he hopes the Blackshirts are able to return to their dominant days of old and feels the unit needs a player or two to develop an attitude like the one the defense had back in the days of Christian and Jason Peter and Grant Wistrom.
