The Southwest Hawks are ‘Frighting Hunger’ in our last fall feature story for Excellence in Education. The Student Council invited kids across the community to the special spooky event.

"We set up a bunch of stations. We have kids come in and we have like a treat walk; we have bag decorating, coloring and stuff like that. It’s just like a safe environment for kids to come for Halloween," says Maddie Fanton, Student Council Historian.

There was also face painting and pumpkin bowling. Kids just needed to bring a can of food to have buckets of fun. The Student Council says more children showed up this year, thanks to them getting the word out.

"Everyone was having a lot of fun. I know that they just love to go around to the different stations because there were so many different things you could do. It just seemed like everyone was enjoying it," says Adrian Pilkington, Student Council Secretary.

After a night of fun, the kids went home with bags full of candy and all of the food was donated to Southwest’s DECA organization’s Hunger Drive.
