Exmark recalling about 750 riding lawn mowers

Exmark is recalling about 750 riding lawn mowers because of a problem with some of the welds that could cause crashes. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of Exmark's Pioneer S-Series riding mowers on Tuesday.

Officials say some of the welds on a key part of the mower can fail and cause the person driving the mower to lose control. The company advertises that its Pioneer S-Series mowers weigh more than 800 pounds and can travel at speeds up to 8 mph.

The mower comes equipped with either a 20-, 22- or 24-horsepower engine. Exmark, a division of Toro, is based in Beatrice.
