Family Fishing Night a hit at Bowling Lake
Looking for something fun to do as a family that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? How about fishing?
Bowling Lake in Airpark played host to Tuesday's free Family Fishing Nights sponsored by Game and Parks. Throughout the summer, the youth fishing program supplies rods, reels and bait as well as free instruction.
Organizers say with high gas prices, it's a great way for families to bond while staying close to home. Larry Pape helped run Tuesday's event. He says, “fFor the first time in a long time, they see their kids cooperating with each other as opposed to fighting. That's a lot of fun and we love seeing parents, moms and kids, dads and daughters catching their first fish together.”
Kids fish free, but anyone 16 and older does need a license. There are still seven family fishing nights left throughout the summer. For a full schedule, visit Http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/fishing/programs/famfish/famfish.asp
