It's official: Nebrasketball is going dancing!
“Oh it's the best feeling in the world!” Husker fan Seth Korte said.
“It's surreal right now!” Patrick Howard, another fan, added.
Fans came together in Pinnacle Bank Arena for a Selection Sunday watch party. The energy was high, and most fans had positive expectations.
“It'd be big for this program, and big for the coach and everyone involved,” Jim King said.
“If I had to make a prediction, I think we'll probably be an 11 or 12 seed,” Scott Pastell said.
Pastell was right.
They've been selected as an 11 seed in the West Region bracket. It's been more than a decade since the team has made it to the Big Dance. They'll play 6-seeded Baylor.
Fans said no matter the outcome of the tournament, this is certainly a season they will never forget.
“We were always the team that were upsetting people,” Howard said. “Now we're the team that people are looking out for.”
“I went through all the eras of not even expecting anything,” Korte said. “Just to have this day is a dream come true.”
Up in Omaha, Creighton fans also had a reason to celebrate. The team has been selected as a 3 seed, also in the west region bracket, and will play 14–seeded Louisiana Lafayette.
“A lot of fun, it's history,” a Creighton fan said.
“This is our highest seed I think ever,” another added. “We're ready to rock 'n roll in San Antonio.”
