Fans Celebrate NCAA Win With Team
Fans are still tired from staying up late to watch the women’s volleyball team win, but that didn’t stop them from coming out to support the team as the they arrived back at the university.
Fans packed the stands at the Devaney Sports Center to celebrate the Nebraska women’s volleyball NCAA championship. Players received rock star treatment as they entered the arena to hundreds of cheering fans.
Ashlynn Engelhard was among those who came out to support the team and says she couldn’t believe the games ending, "My mom and I got up really fast and we like screamed and we were jumping all around, my brother had his snap chat he was trying to record and it was the best, it’s so exciting."
Donald Densberger made the trip to Kansas City so he could watch his daughter play in the biggest game of her life. Freshman Haley Densberger is a defensive specialist on the team.
"She’s pretty excited, pretty excited. She’s had a lot going on this year and having a good time with everything so it was great," said Densberger.
The excitement and love fans have for the team could be felt throughout the arena. Players and coaches were given a standing ovation as fans cheered as the trophy was officially presented.
"There’s so many people that support Nebraska and especially Nebraska volleyball it’s just unbelievable how many people were in Kansas City and it just drove up for this this morning," Densberger said.
