Thousands of students from rural schools across Nebraska gathered in Lincoln for the annual Future Farmers of America Convention.

The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation is calling attention to the shortage of Ag Education teachers.

They’re offering scholarships for student teachers and a new loan assistance program to encourage kids interested in the field to consider teaching.

Nebraska Department of Education officials say 40 schools have added or are looking to add Ag Education programs in the last five years.

The FFA Convention kicked off Wednesday and wrapped up Friday.
