Five Hour Standoff Ends With Man In Custody
A five hour standoff with police on Saturday ended with one man is in custody
Lincoln police closed off several blocks around 27th and Garfield, after police say a man who had a history of violent behavior began threatening neighbors and telling them he had a gun.
James schuerman says he's the one who called police, After an encounter with the man early Saturday afternoon.
“No body knows who this guy is. He literally smokes his tires in reverse and he hits us. I hit my head against the windshield.”
Shcuerman says they exchanged few words before the man rammed his friends car for no apparent reason.
Authorities negotiated a five hour standoff before rushing in and breaking down a home made barricade then taking the man into custody.
Police are saying that he is not under arrest, but they are holding him for a mental evaluation.
