Five Nebraska non-profits awarded USDA funding

LINCOLN, Neb. – Five Nebraska non profits have been awarded $272,000 in grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The money from USDA Rural Development will support business development and entrepreneurship.

Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway will receive almost $100,000 for promotion and tourism. The USDA says the money will create or save 10 jobs.

Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society will get $99,000 to train food producers through the Farm to School program. The USDA says the money will create or save 13 jobs.

Ansley Economic Development will receive $60,100 to renovate a building to house five rural businesses. The USDA says the money will create or save three jobs.

Creighton Community Schools will get $8,000 and Crawford Public Schools $5,000 to install wind turbines.
