Flynn launches GOP campaign for Neb. US senator

Pat Flynn has launched another Republican campaign for U.S. Senate. The 51-year-old from Schuyler joins Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning in the 2012 GOP race.

Don Stenberg, who won the Nov. 2 race to become Nebraska treasurer, is said to be considering a run as well. Their Democratic target is the incumbent, Ben Nelson. Nelson's aides say he's raising campaign money but that his final decision on whether to seek re-election will be made “when it's time to focus on 2012.''

The Lincoln Journal Star says Flynn described himself as an investment adviser representative. In May 2008, Flynn won only 22 percent of the votes in his primary contest with Mike Johanns, who went on to beat Democrat Scott Kleeb.
