Nebraska specialists Sam Foltz and Drew Brown were named to national award watch lists on Thursday morning. The duo returns in 2016 to give the Huskers one of the nation’s best set of specialists.

Foltz is one of 27 punters named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List, and one of only two watch list members from the Big Ten. The Greeley, Neb., native will enter his fourth season as NU’s punter in 2016, and has enjoyed an outstanding career.

As a junior, Foltz was the Eddelman-Fields Big Ten Punter of the Year, and a first-team all-conference choice by both the league media and coaches. Foltz averaged 44.2 yards per punt in 2015, including 45.0 yards per boot in conference games. He enters his senior year with a career average of 42.6 yards per punt and 50 career punts of 50 yards or more.

Drew Brown was one of 30 kickers named to the watch list for the Lou Groza National Collegiate Place-Kicker Award. Brown enters his junior season as one of the nation’s top returning place-kickers after a strong 2015 campaign.

Brown connected on 21-of-27 field goals in 2015, and made his final 11 field goal attempts of the season. Brown made 13 field goals of at least 40 yards in 2015, tying for the most in the nation from beyond 40 yards. He earned second-team All-Big Ten honors for his work in 2015. Brown is the only kicker in school history to score at least 100 points in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. He is one of three Big Ten kickers on the Groza Award Watch List.

The watch lists for national awards will continue to be announced through July 15. Watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Outland Trophy will be announced on Friday.
