Former state senator fights immigration policies

A former state senator is trying to fight policies like the new ordinance in Fremont, which will ban hiring or renting to illegal immigrants.  DiAnna Schimek wrote a letter that says policies like it are designed to create fear and division.

In addition to that, her two other main points are restoring prenatal care to women including illegal immigrants and stopping an Arizona style immigration law from passing in other states.  She says, “I think that is one of the most important issues of our day.  It truly is the civil rights issue of our time and until the federal government does something, we will continue to have to work on the issue.”

Schimeck says she's confident the Fremont and Arizona laws won't go too far because of all the court challenges they'll get.
