Four Former Huskers Named All Stars

It will be all-star Wednesday for a quartet for Nebraska baseball players selected for the California Collegiate League All-Star Game. Wednesday's game, which features the top 50 players in the league, will be televised regionally on Fox Sports West (Ch. 652 on DirecTV; Ch. 417 on DISH Network) with airings across the nation on Fox Sports Net channels throughout the next month. First pitch is set for 9 p.m. (central) from the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton.

Patric Tolentino earned all-star honors after hitting .306 with a homer and 14 RBIs in 23 contests. He is second on the team with 13 walks and has helped the Santa Barbara Foresters to 10 wins in their last 11 contests and a 1.5 game lead. Overall, Santa Barbara is 25-7 heading into the all-star break, including a 15-5 mark in the CCL.

Three Huskers are representing the San Luis Obispo Blues, who is second in the league with a 14-7 mark (20-11 overall). Right hander Sean Yost will make the start on the hill on Wednesday, as he is 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in four appearances. He has 13 strikeouts in 14 innings while holding opponents to a .259 batting average. He will see a familiar face behind the plate as catcher Cory Burleson was selected to the game.  The junior-to-be is hitting .293 with 12 RBIs, as he is also tied for third on the team with 13 runs scored and second with 18 walks. Shortstop Chad Christensen is the third Husker from San Luis Obispo to be chosen, as he comes into the game with a .274 batting average with 13 RBIs and a team-high 11 stolen bases.
