A red-shirt freshman Husker football player was cited for driving under the influence and minor in possession over the weekend.

The Nebraska State Patrol says it happened around 2 a.m. Sunday.  A state trooper conducted a traffic stop near West O Street and NW Roundhouse Drive.

The trooper cited Jesse J. Trey Foster after smelling the odor of alcohol.  Known on the team as Trey Foster, he was placed in detox and issued a warning for speeding.

The freshman tight end caught his first career pass this season against Purdue.  He's a graduate of Lincoln Southeast High School.

Head Coach Bo Pelini said in a statement, “I am aware of the incident involving Trey Foster. We have met with Trey and the issue has been handled internally.”
