Frost open to game against UCF, just not yet

LINCOLN, Neb. – Scott Frost said on Thursday that he’s open to a game against UCF, just maybe not this season.

"I know UCF doesn’t have a true bye week – it’s a short week the next wee," Frost said. "The hardest part for me if anybody on either team got hurt or anything bad happened to any kid on either team, I’d be broken-hearted. I still love those kids down there that are playing at UCF so much, rooting for them. I think it’d be an evenly-matched game of two really good teams, but personally, I’d cringe a little when our defensive end hit their quarterback, and that’s not how you want to go into a game."

UCF’s game against North Carolina scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled due to Hurricane Florence. The Knights have a bye week the same weekend as Nebraska (Oct. 27), who is also looking to add a 12th game.

Frost said on Thursday he does not want to schedule a game in December.

"I don’t want to schedule a game for December because I think we’re going to have a chance to be in the championship game, and scheduling a game for December, I don’t want our kids think we’re not going to be in the champ- we need to be in the championship game."

Nebraska takes on Troy this Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
