Gas prices increasing in Lincoln
Gas prices are continuing to go up here in Lincoln and all across the US. And there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight.
Rising gas prices may be a national problem, but that's not stopping Lincoln residents from letting out their frustrations over what they're paying at the pump. Shaylene Michaels says “gas is expensive and I might not be able to afford it.”
It's safe to say that citizens all across the country feel the exact same way. The current national average sits at $3.84. But unfortunately for Lincoln residents, many of them continue to spend even more than that. The city's average sits at three eighty nine a gallon. Landon Johnson says “it's pretty expensive. It's pretty frustrating.”
Gas prices are sure to be a hot button issue in the upcoming 2012 presidential election. Last week president Obama announced his plans to form a task force to make sure nothing illegal is going on within the oil markets. “we're going to make sure that nobody's taking advantage of the American consumers for their own short term gain, Obama says.”
There's no telling when Lincoln residents will start to see a change, but for some it's still a matter of urgency. “for me, I just hope that gas prices go down because I need, I need to travel and I go back and forth to Omaha. And it's expensive, so, Michaels says.”
