Gas Prices On The Rise

AAA reported an increased cost for unleaded gasoline on Thursday.

The national average is now at $2.61.  In Nebraska, fuel prices are even higher.

The prices are on the rise because of the recent spike in the price of crude oil.  Right now, a barrel of oil is now selling for as much as $81.00.

Rose White is the Director of AAA Nebraska.  She says, “what appears to be driving crude oil prices is higher investment dollars coming into the stock market.”

White says we will continue to see prices going up and relief will only come when things on Wall Street start to settle down.  “Once the influx of dollars goes down, then we can hope to see prices level out a little bit.”

There is not much consumers can do to offset gas prices, officals say the only thing to do right now is to ride it out.
