Governor Heineman Asks For Disaster Relief Funds
Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman has asked President Bush for disaster relief following a flurry of storms that caused an estimated $26.5 million in damage.
Heineman said Friday he is confident the request will be swiftly approved. The money would help the state recover from storms that occurred from May 22 through Thursday.
Al Berndt of the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency says the damage is the worst Nebraska has seen from severe spring storms in a number of years.
About half the damage was from tornadoes, the rest from flooding.
