Grand Island Native Killed In Iraq Laid to Rest

Friends and family in Grand Island joined together to celebrate the life of Petty Officer Eric Knott. Knott, a Navy Seabee stationed in Iraq, lost his life nearly a week and a half ago after a roadside bomb explosion.

Tuesday, his body was laid to rest in his hometown of Grand Island. His friends describe him as a caring, uplifting individual. Hearts were heavy all across Grand Island as friends and family remembered the life of 21 year old Eric Knott. Eric's father says he was trying to learn more about the construction trade by serving as a Navy Seabee.

Military service has a long standing tradition in the Knott family. Eric's grandfather, as well as two older brothers have proudly served the U.S.
