Green wins gold at Grand Prix in Spain

Madrid, Spain – Former Husker James Green (70 kg/154 pounds) captured the gold medal at the men’s freestyle Grand Prix of Spain over the weekend.

Green won three matches, opening with a 7-5 victory over Germany’s Kubilay Cakici before defeating Iran’s Hamid Vafei in the semifinals, 10-0. In the finals, Green took down Russia’s Ildus Giniiatullin, 4-3.

Earlier this summer, Green went 4-0 at the World Cup and earned a bronze medal at the Ziolkowski Memorial in Poland. Green, a four-time All-American at Nebraska, also captured a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships.
