Groundbreaking on new Anderson Ford location

Lincoln's only Ford dealership broke ground on their new facility Tuesday in south Lincoln. Anderson Ford is moving up in the auto world…after being selected as one of the first motor trend certified dealerships they're now ready to open shop across town.

After a few scoops of the dirt…Anderson Ford officially broke ground on their new location. This empty land will soon be transformed into a state–of–the–art 45,000 square foot automotive sales and service facility.

It will be located at 33rd and Yankee Hill and is slated to open in the summer of 2011. “This is an exciting day because it sparks growth and growth is what we all need and so I think it builds momentum for every employee at Anderson,” Employee Herb Mast said.

CEO of Anderson Auto group Mike Anderson says adding a second Ford dealership in Lincoln is proof the automotive industry is getting back on track.  “A few years ago people were thinking Ford was going to go out of business so I'm really excited to be a Ford dealer and the fact they made decisions early on to stay in the business and pay off their debt,” Anderson said.

On top of providing both new and used vehicles the facility will include a full collision center, service facility, detail center and drive through car wash.  Anderson says providing their customers two locations will help business and the community.  “If you look at Lincoln the majority of the car dealerships are either in north or south Lincoln and right now we don't have a presence in the south side of Lincoln and we felt like we needed to and were excited to be out there with these other dealers,” Anderson said.

Again, the new south location for Anderson Ford is slated to open in June of next year. There also considering moving their Mazda franchise to the new south location.
