Hallam Receives Funds to Improve Water System

Senator Chuck Hagel announced Friday that the Village of Hallam will receive more than $600,000 to improve the town's water system and construct a new tower. The town is currently rebuilding from May's tornado, and this money will help the citizens get access to the water service they need.

The money comes from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration. The funding will cover 99.9% of the cost for the new water tower and primary water mains to the business district. The grant will also pay for curbs and gutters and an emergency generator for the water lift-station.
