Hallam’s Oldest Resident Moves Into New Home

A sentimental milestone has been reached on Hallam's road to recovery. The community's oldest resident has moved into a brand-new house there. 91-year-old Laura Luckhardt's home of more than 25 years was destroyed by the tornado that ripped through the town last May. She's been living with her granddaughter in Lincoln, and even considered not moving back to Hallam. But in the end she says she wanted to return to the the place that feels most like home.

The storm that claimed Laura's home also took the life of her friend Elaine Focken who lived next door. Although she's sad, she says it's very good to be home.
