Heartland Honor Flight
This is a Channel 8 Eyewitness News Call To Action
The Veterans Of Foreign War are trying to raise money to fly World War II veterans to Washington D.C to see the World War II Memorial.
The Memorial was established in 2004 and the VFW wants to sponsor three Heartland Honor Flights. The first flight has received enough funds to fly veterans to Washington May 21st.
They are now seeking donations to fund two more flights including one in July. 16-million Americans fought in World War II and 400,000 Americans died in the war. Despite their herioc efforts, a momument wasn't erected until 2004. Because the World War II veterans are well into their senior years, there's an urgent need to raise the funds quickly to send the vets to Washington.
If you would like to donate, you can call VFW State Adjutant and Quartermaster John Liebsack at 402-464-0647 or firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also send a check to: Heartland Honor Flight-VFW, P.O. Box 4552, Lincoln, NE, 68504.
