A heat advisory is in effect for most of the Channel 8 Eyewitness News viewing area on Wednesday from 1p.m. to 9 p.m.

According to Channel 8 Meteorologist Rachael Witter, temperatures Wednesday afternoon will reach 100 degrees with heat indexes from 105 to 108 when you factor in humidity.

The combination of heat and humidity will increase risks of heat exhaustion and heat stroke for those of you working or playing outdoors, especially for the young and elderly.

Be sure to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.   Be sure to bring your pets indoors if possible or provide a shaded area for your animals.
