Centennial is the team to beat in Class C2 this postseason.

The Broncos are coming off a state runner-up performance a year ago, and seem poised to make a deep playoff run once again.

Coach Evan Klanecky gives a lot of the credit to his senior class, who’s won more games than anyone in school history.

“I think this group that’s such a big part of their success, just how they prepare week in and week out,” Klanecky said earlier this week. “We’re getting everybody’s best shot. That’s what I told them in the state title game last year. That’s our approach and I think they do a great job of it.”

Centennial (9-0) takes on North Platte St. Patrick’s in the opening round Friday night. The first step to a return trip to the state title game.

“It means a lot,” senior quarterback Wyatt Ehlers said. “To go out and finish what we started with all these guys. We know we’re not done yet. We’re not satisfied. It’s been special that’s for sure. We don’t want to overlook anybody. It’s just that we’ve got to win out here. Just build on what we’ve done and keep going. Week in. And week out.”
