Homeland Security Director Announces the Government’s New “Ready Campaign”

Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge says Americans have a choice in the face of terrorism–be afraid–or be ready. At the Cincinnati Chapter of the Red Cross on Wednesday, Ridge announced the government's new “Ready Campaign''. It's a plan for people to prepare for possible terrorist attacks. Ridge advises Americans to put together an emergency kit containing food and water, first aid, flashlights and a battery powered radio. He says family members should have a communication plan so they can get in touch with one another in an emergency. And the last bit of advice — be informed. Ridge says people should understand different types of terror attacks require different responses.
