A Nebraska hotel executive has been convicted of unlawfully employing someone who was living in the country illegally.
Federal prosecutors say 63-year-old Paul Younes, of Kearney, pleaded guilty Tuesday, as did Kearney Hospitality Inc., for which Younes is an officer and director. He’s scheduled to be sentenced on May 9.
Prosecutors say a Mexican citizen who was working at a Hastings hotel operated by Kearney Hospitality Inc. quit in 2014 when she learned she was being investigated. Prosecutors say the woman met with Younes, who arranged a job for her, under a different name, at a motel in Kearney that also was run by Kearney Hospitality.
Younes’ attorney says Kearney Hospitality has implemented correcting measures and says it and Younes have made plea agreements that involve probation and fines.
