How Cold Did It Get Last Night In Nebraska

With a wind chill of minus 30, Norfolk isn't even officially the coldest spot in Nebraska. The National Weather Service says Norfolk's air temperature got down to minus 14 Thursday morning, but it was 4 degrees colder _ minus 18 _ a few dozen miles east at Tekamah Municipal Airport.

There wasn't much of a breeze at the airport, but the Weather Service says winds will pick up and make it feel like 30 below. Other cold spots overnight in Nebraska included Fremont, Omaha and Wayne at minus 15, Blair at minus 13 and Plattsmouth and Lincoln at minus 9.

Many schools opened two hours later than normal Thursday, but only a few closed for the day. Relative warmth returns this weekend, with temperatures reaching 32 in eastern Nebraska.
