Husker Assistant Coach Turner Gill Says He’s Moving On

The only Husker coach with ties to the Tom Osborne coaching era resigned Friday. Turner Gill choked back tears Friday afternoon when he told reporters its time to move on. Gill was very popular with fans in the early 80's.

We all remember Turner's heart-wrenching game with Miami in the 1984 Orange Bowl. When Gill's pass to Jeff Smith hit the turf, Nebraska's 2-point conversion to win the game came to a traumatic end. Gill has been part of the Husker's coaching staff for the past 13 years and now he says he's searching for better opportunities.
