Husker Fans Donate Tickets For Veterans

In honor of the 75th anniversary of Veteran's Day weekend, Husker ticket holders generously donated their tickets to military veterans so they could enjoy Saturday's game. Well over 600 tickets were donated to the “Tickets for Veterans” program at the Nebraksa Bookstore. Veterans said it's the best gift some of them could have ever gotten for Veteran's Day. This is the first year for the program and organizers said the response was tremendous.  100 tickets were donated by Nebraska Bookstore and the rest were generously given by the community and student-athletes. Veterans were also honored before the game with a tribute from the university's band and color guards representing each branch of service. There were almost 12,000 veterans who signed up to get a ticket.  Although only 600 tickets were given out, it was more than expected.  Veterans who didn't get a ticket were given a gift from the bookstore.
