Husker Soccer Player Shot
A 21 year old Husker soccer player died Sunday night after being shot at a party Saturday night. Jenna, who would have been a senior next fall, started in every Husker game the last two seasons, and played the defender, midfielder and forward positions on the team. NU Athletic Director Steve Pederson says “the University of Nebraska is a better place because Jenna Cooper made us a part of her life.” Head soccer coach John Walker says “Jenna was a great, great person, teammate and player…everyone who had the opportunity to meet her, loved her.” Cooper started 69 of 70 career games for Nebraska and helped lead the Huskers to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. Jenna is survived by her parents Willian and Ellen Cooper of Louisville, Kentucky, and her brother Billy. Funeral services are pending. Her family is asking that memorials in her honor be donated to the University of Nebraska soccer program.
