Husker T&F Debuts in Top 25

The Nebraska track and field team will open the 2012 indoor season with both the men's and women's teams ranked in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association top 25. Released Tuesday afternoon by the USTFCCCA, the Husker men will start the season ranked No. 5 in the country, while the women's squad is ranked No. 25. Florida holds the men's top spot, while Oregon is the top-ranked women's team.

In their first season in the Big Ten Conference, the Huskers will have a chance to add to their 103 conference team titles. The Husker men have won their last indoor crown in 2007, while the women's squad took home the Big 12 Indoor Championship in 2011.

The Big Ten Conference was well represented with six teams ranked on the men's side and three on the women's side.

The Huskers are set to open the 2012 season next weekend when they host the Holiday Inn Invitational at the Devaney Center Indoor Track. Action will start on Friday, Jan. 13 at the 4 p.m. and continue on Saturday at Noon.
