Husker Wrestling Schedule

Lincoln – Highlighted by seven home duals and nine contests against teams who finished last year ranked in the top 25, the Nebraska wrestling program has released the upcoming schedule for its 100th anniversary season. The Huskers will feature an experienced starting lineup in 2010-11 and welcome back 2009 national champion Jordan Burroughs, who received a medical hardship for his injury in November 2009.

The Huskers will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of its first season at the University of Nebraska, as the Big Red first featured a team in 1910-11. That NU squad participated in two competitions, wrestling at the Iowa Tournament and then traveling to Chicago to win the Western Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship. Since its beginnings a century ago, the Husker wrestling program has grown into one of the proudest traditions in the country, boasting 603 dual victories, 88 All-Americans, 18 Top-10 NCAA finishes and 10 national champions.

The 2010-11 schedule will be challenging from the start. Nebraska begins the year at the Buckeye Duals in Columbus, Ohio on Nov. 21, where it will square off against Pittsburgh, Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Ohio State in the same day.

The home opener will be a double-dual on Nov. 27, as the Huskers take on Bucknell and South Dakota State prior to a Mountain Time Zone road trip on Dec. 3 and 4 to meet Northern Colorado and Wyoming.

Nebraska returns home to host one of its toughest dual weeks of the season Dec. 9 and 11, squaring off against Minnesota and Oregon State. The Gophers finished seventh at the 2010 NCAA Championships, while the Beavers were a nationally-ranked dual team for the majority of the 2009-10 season.

The Huskers will travel to two of the premier wrestling competitions around the New Year, heading to The Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill., Dec. 29-30 and then trekking to Grand Prairie, Texas for the Lone Star Duals on Jan. 15, 2011.

Prior to starting Big 12 competition, the Huskers hit the road for duals at Wisconsin (Jan. 21) and Northern Iowa (Jan. 23), with the Badgers marking the third and final Big Ten team the Big Red will dual during the 2010-11 season. Nebraska edged Wisconsin in the season opener last year in Lincoln, although UW went on to place fourth at nationals.

Nebraska opens the conference slate at Oklahoma (Jan. 28) and Missouri (Jan. 30), before hosting Arizona State (Feb. 4) and Oklahoma State (Feb. 6) at the NU Coliseum. The Huskers' final regular season road trip of the year will be against ACC foes North Carolina and Duke (Feb. 12), prior to Senior Day vs. Iowa State in Lincoln (Feb. 20). The 2011 Big 12 Championships will be at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa on March 5.

After hosting the NCAA Championships this year in Omaha, the Huskers will travel to Philadelphia in 2011 as the national tournament is at the Wachovia Center, home to the NBA's 76ers and the NHL's Flyers. The 2011 NCAA Championships are scheduled for March 17-19.
