(Omaha-AP) — Alex Gordon's two-out, two-run home run in the seventh inning broke a tie and carried Nebraska to an seven-to-three win over Creighton on Tuesday. Gordon's sixth homer of the season came off Creighton relief pitcher Scott Reese after Daniel Bruce had doubled.
Reese gave way to Adam Schaecher who allowed an R-B-I single to Beau Sullivan.
Nebraska starter Justin Pekarek retired twelve straight Creighton batters from the third through seventh innings. He pitched a career-high six-and-one-third innings before Dustin Timm came in. Pekarek allowed three runs and four hits and equaled his career high with six strikeouts.
Creighton pulled within five-to-three in the bottom of the seventh, but Nebraska extended its lead to four runs in the ninth on Curtis Ledbetter's two-run single.
