Huskers Hold Student Night

LINCOLN, Neb. Some four-thousand to five-thousand students gathered in Memorial Stadium to whoop it up as the Nebraska Cornhuskers practiced this afternoon.

The band played, the cheerleaders cheered, Herbie Husker glad-handed his way through the stands and the students basked in the sun in the southeast corner of the stadium.

After the scrimmage, the band played “Hail Varsity” and “There Is No Place Like Nebraska” as the players did 200-yard “gassers.”

Corbin Schoenberger (SHOWN-berger) is a senior education major from Imperial. He said he came to whet his appetite for football and to check out the team's talent level.

Coach Bill Callahan said it was a fun afternoon for both the students and student-athletes.
