Huskers open game week with anticipation sky high

Head coach Scott Frost and members of the Nebraska football team held their first weekly press conference of the regular season on Monday afternoon at Memorial Stadium to discuss Saturday’s season opener with South Alabama.

Saturday’s game with the Jaguars kicks off at 11 a.m. at Memorial Stadium, with live television coverage provided by ESPN. 

Nebraska enters its second season under Frost among the top 25 in the Associated Press Poll. South Alabama also features a second-year head coach in Steve Campbell, who guided the Jaguars to a 3-9 mark last season. The game marks the second all-time meeting between the Huskers and South Alabama, after Nebraska rolled to a 48-9 win over USA on Sept. 12, 2015.

Also Monday, 14 Blackshirts were handed out to Husker defensive players. Mohamed Barry (senior linebacker), Dicaprio Bootle (junior cornerback), Darrion Danials (senior defensive lineman), Alex Davis (senior outside linebacker), Carlos Davis (senior defensive lineman), Khalil Davis (senior defensive lineman), Marquel Dismuke (junior safety), Will Honas (junior linebacker), Lamar Jackson (senior cornerback), Collin Miller (junior linebacker), Ben Stille (senior defensive lineman), Caleb Tannor (junior outside linebacker), Cam Taylor (sophomore defensive back) and Deontai Williams (junior safety).
