Jackson Needs Surgery

Running back Brandon Jackson, who suffered a right shoulder injury two weeks ago, will undergo surgery on Friday.  Callahan and the medical staff are optimistic that  Jackson can be back for the start of fall camp.

The Husker football team moved indoors and conducted a 2 hour and 20-minute full-pad practice inside Cook Pavilion on Wednesday afternoon.  With less than two weeks remaining until the Spring Game, Head Coach Bill Callahan was very pleased with the intensity of practice.

“It was really an excellent practice today,” said Callahan.  “I was really proud of the way our players practiced.  They were very physical with everything we did on the field.  They displayed great tempo and came to work with a great frame of mind.  That’s what you have to do to be a championship team.”

Nebraska continued live scrimmage work and also focused on special teams, an area where Callahan would like to see great improvement this season.

“We really put a premium on the hold up and trying to get our return game going,” said Callahan.  “I liked what I saw from the way we came off the ball and how we held up the punt coverage team coming down the field.”

Nebraska continues spring practice on Friday, April 8 at 3:45 p.m, before its second scrimmage of the spring on Saturday.

The annual Red-White Game on April 16. Tickets for the Spring Game can be purchased online at Huskers.com and by calling or visiting the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office.
