Jayhawks Avoid Husker Sweep

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – T.J. Walz allowed three runs in seven and two-thirds innings as Kansas avoided a sweep by beating Nebraska 6-3 today.

The Jayhawks drove in three runs in the seventh inning after loading the bases twice, extending their lead and putting the game out of reach for Nebraska.

Buck Afenir had three hits and drove in two runs for Kansas (25-18, 5-10 Big 12 Conference), while John Allman drove in two runs with his seventh-inning single. Walz (3-0) struck out five and allowed six hits to Nebraska (28-7-1, 13-4-1 Big 12).

Bryce Nimmo had two hits and scored two runs for the Huskers; Jake Opitz had two RBIs.

Aaron Pribanic (3-2) allowed five runs, all earned, in the loss. Paul Smyth earned his seventh save for Kansas.
