Joba’s Dad Doing Better According To Yankee Manager

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi says Joba Chamberlain's father is doing a little better in the hospital.

The hard-throwing reliever left the Yankees Monday after his father collapsed at home in Nebraska. The pitcher was placed on the bereavement list and is missing a two-game series against Boston that began last night at Yankee Stadium.

Harlan Chamberlain is hospitalized at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.

Girardi says Joba is by his father's side, and the whole team is praying for the family. Harlan Chamberlain raised Joba as a single dad. He attended New York's season opener this month and was at last week's series in Kansas City.
