Fire officials say a landowner was conducting a prescribed burn on CRP land in Pleasant Dale Saturday when it crossed a fence and got out of control.

It happened near 140th Street & Yankee Hill Road around 1:30 p.m.

Authorities say the landowner had used about 1,000 gallons of water from his tanker to contain the fire, but ran out. That’s when he called 911.

Crews contained the grass fire. It spread about 80 total acres. No one was injured.
