Last Day For Omaha Mayor Recall Effort

Tuesday is the last day for members of the Recall Fahey Committee to circulate petitions to oust Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey.

The committee needs at least 21,000 signatures to force a recall election.

Members have been collecting names since March 24th.

Committee member Greg Lyons says the group doesn't know exactly how many signatures its collected so far.

He expects to have a better idea once petitions are returned to the committee Tuesday night.

Many in the Recall Fahey Committee are upset over how the mayor has handled contract negotiations with the NCAA in the city's bid for a long-term deal for the College World Series.

Fahey is serving his second term as mayor of Nebraska's largest city, which ends in 2009.

He has not decided whether to run again.
