Legislature Debates Statewide Smoking Ban
Certain businesses in Lincoln are set to go smoke free this summer as a result of the Smoke Free Air Act which passed the City Council. But now it could be that every restaurant in the state of Nebraska will be a smoke-free environment.
Friday, the Legislature debated LB 546, a bill designed to do just that. This is the third year that the Unicameral has considered some form of a state wide smoking ban. LB 546 would prohibit smoking in any business with a kitchen that serves food, including some sports bars.
The Unicameral debated the bill Friday but it could be several weeks before the bill comes to the floor for a vote.
