Letter Sent to Governor’s Office Ignites

Some scary moments at the capitol Thursday morning. A letter sent to Governor Johanns' office ignited when a staff member opened it. The Governor was not in the building and no one was hurt. The State Patrol says a match inside the letter ignited but the papers inside it did not catch on fire.

Similar letters were sent to governors in Montana, Washington and Idaho as well as a corrections officer in Nevada. All of the letters were post-marked to a Nevada prison. Officials there said they are questioning two inmates.

Security at the Capitol saw no reason to evacuate the building. Governor Johanns was in Norfolk at the time the letter was opened.
