A levee near Hamburg, Iowa breached Monday morning.  Floodwaters are expected to reach the town by tomorrow.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says a full breach has occurred on the Missouri River Federal levee L-575 near Hamburg, Iowa this morning.  The river punched a 50-foot-wide hole in the levee and is swamping farmland.   The Army Corps of Engineers is working to make sure a secondary levee around Hamburg is completed.

Hamburg is near Highway 2 across the Missouri River  in Iowa.  Floodwaters could reach the town Tuesday.  Also, the water could force Iowa state officials to shut down I-29.
