Lincoln Backpack Program
The Lincoln Backpack program helps children in the community who during the week rely on school breakfasts and lunches for their most nutritious meals of the day.
The Backpack Program sends a backpack filled with one of the six menus offered to students each Friday during the school year. The goal of the Backpack Program is to provide four or five meals for the studen and his or her family over the weekend. Although the BackPack Program will be serving 1500 students during teh 2008-2009 school year, the need is great and there are still many hungry children in our community. Census figured reveal there are 8741 children under ther age of 18 are living below the poverty line in Lancaster County.
