Lincoln Christian set for historic season opener Friday
LINCOLN – Call it Friday Night Lights – for the first time.
The Lincoln Christian Crusaders will play their first ever home game under the lights this Friday, putting the final bow on a 250,000-dollar project that installed state-of-the-art field lighting equipment at Christian’s home field.
The Crusaders face off against Platteview at 7:00 p.m. following an afternoon of build-up for the season opener.
“There are two of us that were here for the first ever true home game at this school,” senior lineman Isaiah Orduna said. “So just to see the transformation of this place, it’s just something different for us you know. I just got chills right now just thinking about that.”
The festivities at Lincoln Christian will begin at 2:30 p.m. and include an all-school pep rally, a Booster Club tailgate, recognition of past school champions and more. Alumni get free admission to the game and football alumni are invited to stand on the sidelines before the game.
“This being the first ever night game here at Lincoln Christian is just super special and unique,” junior quarterback Alex Koch said. “We’re all crazy excited for it.”
