Lincoln Hotels Criticize The C.V.B.

Lincoln's downtown hotels have been criticizing the convention and visitors bureau lately. They say the C-V-B isn't promoting the city enough, and isn't helping them fill their rooms. The County Board of Commissioners voted to stay with the bureau. Area hotels will pay over 8-hundred-50-thousand dollars in taxes this year that will be used to promote Lincoln. Star City Communications wanted to take the contract away. But in the end, county commissioners chose the Convention and Visitors Bureau for the five year contract The chamber will now negotiate with the board on the details of the contract. Several commissioners want to include veto power in the future hiring of the C-V-B Director.
