Lincoln man accused of abusing 3 month old daughter

Lincoln Police say a man was arrested for child abuse.  He's accused of injuring his 3-month-old daughter.

Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood says Jonathan Michael Znomist, 34, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of child abuse.  Officer Flood says Znomist became frustrated and elbowed the infant in the head causing a skull fracture.

Police say the child's mother took her to the hospital last Friday.  The baby had a swollen eye and doctors discovered broken ribs that were healing.  None of the injuries are life threatening.

The baby and her 4-year-old sister have been placed in temporary protective custody. Znomist is also a registered sex offender in Nebraska.  He was convicted of sexual assault of a child in Lancaster County in July, 2000.
