A 78-year-old Lincoln man lost thousands of dollars in a lottery scam.  Lincoln police said the man received a call saying he won the lottery.

Police say the man was told he needed to pay taxes to collect the money so he sent $2000 to the Philippines.  He received another call saying there was a problem and he sent another $3500.

On Wednesday, police said the victim was called again and was told to send even more money but the bank stopped him.

“If you're informed that you won a lottery, number one, you need to have entered. Some of these victims we're finding never even entered a lottery. And second, if you do truly win a lottery, they won't have you pay fees or taxes up front. You will win that money outright,” Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood said.

Police said they don't have any suspects and continue to investigate.
